The Wynwood Walls
The Wynwood Walls began in 2009 by two collaborating visionaries, Tony Goldman and Jeffrey Deitch. Today, the Goldman Family continues to their vision.
With each year the Wynwood Walls endeavors to expand its breadth and introduce artists never exhibited before in the US and of international renown. In celebration of this project, Goldman Properties created a coffee table book to memorialize the process from blank wall to masterpiece. The creation of the Walls became the catalyst to a thriving arts district and today stands as its unofficial town center. This project is one of great pride for Goldman Properties and exhibits the extraordinary power of art to ignite a neighborhood.
The Wynwood Doors
In 2010, with the great success of the Wynwood Walls, we expanded our museum to include the Wynwood Doors, a lot adjacent to the Wynwood Walls complex. We turned a piece of land that was formerly a garbage dump into a park with oversized boulders and beautiful trees. Metal roll-down gates were installed to break up the 100-foot total width, thereby bringing more canvases to the mural project. On the 15 gates and the walls underneath them, the idea was to feature smaller works by artists who did not necessarily work on a monumental scale, this was our interpretation of the traditional museum portrait gallery.
Outside the Walls
As the years have passed since the founding of the Wynwood Walls, the amount of projects it aspires to present has continued to expand. Instead of keeping these monumental murals and artists within the original footprint of the Wynwood Walls mural park, Outside the Walls allows for The Wynwood Walls to forever move forward and grow over time. Outside the Walls can bring art and the power of The Wynwood Walls to communities all over the world.
